A Romantic Wedding at San Francisco's Conservatory of Flowers
Steph and Danny’s wedding at the Conservatory of Flowers in San Francisco was the kind of celebration that feels both timeless and joyfully modern. Set inside San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, this iconic venue offered a breathtaking backdrop for a full-day wedding rooted in tradition, connection, and effortless beauty.
As a San Francisco wedding florist, I’m always inspired by spaces that already feel like living art, and the Conservatory is exactly that. Steph’s vision blended modern minimalism with the lush, botanical energy of the venue, creating a refined dinner-party atmosphere that felt warm, elevated, and completely personal.
The Couple
Steph met Danny here in San Francisco through a mutual friend. Danny proposed at Barcelona’s Park Güell with friends by their side. I was fortunate to meet Steph years ago when working in tech. Steph always has a smile on her face, is constantly laughing, and loves the Warriors.
The sweet couple that they are, Steph and Danny focused on their family and friends when planning their wedding day (really, an entire day, thanks to Chinese wedding traditions). While it was a celebration of their love, it was also a celebration of all the people that made them the couple they are. They really just wanted everyone to have fun. The Venue: San Francisco’s Conservatory of Flowers
Located in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, The Conservatory of Flowers is a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, and a real treat. Especially for a flower lady like myself. It’s also the perfect spot for a wedding celebration. The beautiful bright white architecture served as a masterpiece of a backdrop for Steph & Danny’s outdoor ceremony. Guests wandered through the greenhouse rooms during cocktail hour before heading to a family-style dinner.
(By the way, the Conservatory of Flowers is free to the public on the first Tuesday of every month. Highly recommend!)
The Design Concept
Steph’s design direction centered on modern minimalism layered into a lush, floral environment. A balance of restraint and abundance. The goal was a sophisticated dinner party feel that complemented, rather than competed with, the venue’s botanical richness.
the Bridal Bouquet
Asymmetrical, airy, and full of texture, the bouquet featured:
Honeysuckle vine for sweet fragrance
Pomegranates for symbolism and good fortune
THE CENTERPIECES
Alternating tables designs
Light, dancing, Ikebana-inspired centerpieces in a palette of peach and blush
Minimal bud vase groupings to showcase statement ingredients like garden roses from Rose Story Farm
Seasonal, Local Floral Ingredients
Many ingredients were locally sourced, including from Bluma Farm’s rooftop in Berkeley, and the final result felt organic, elevated, and unmistakably personal.
