Inside My Floral Design Studio: Essential Tools, Storage & Workflow Upgrades

San Francisco Northern California Florist Flower Studio Essentials.png

It’s that time of the season when I like to think ahead about what will make my floral design studio more organized, efficient, and simply more enjoyable for me and my production team.

Today I’m sharing some of my favorite everyday essentials, plus a few small upgrades that make a big difference.

A note before we dive in: With what’s happening in the US right now, many of us are thinking deeply about where we choose to spend our money. Some of the items linked here are from Amazon because they’re widely available and easy to source for many florists around the world. Please feel free to use these links simply as a reference…most of these items can also be found at local, independently owned hardware stores!

Floral Studio Essentials

Tools I rely on to keep studio days running smoothly

Multipurpose Work Tables - My studio space has a set of these cabinets + countertops, which I love because they are not only aesthetic, but perfect work height, with hidden storage beneath.

Bins on Bins on Bins - I love these clear bins to organize everything from small votives, to kenzans, to ribbons and beyond. They’re easy to stack, bring on-site, and because they’re transparent, there’s no guesswork.

Tiny Pin Organizers - I use these to organize pins and clips (bout/bouquet pins, safety clips of all sizes, tiny binder clips for smilax installs, etc.). I have multiple sets, one for on-site toolkits and one for the studio.

Collapsible Milk Crates - These come in handy when quickly packing things for install day, whether it’s a bar arrangement or a set of supplies. If I have multiple install sites, each site gets its own crate of supplies to avoid back and forth.

Centerpiece Transportation - I use these for packing and delivering centerpiece arrangements; they’re the perfect size and easy to carry. I’ll also rig these onto shelves in the truck for easy transport.

Hanging Storage - I use this to hang brooms and dustpans.

Rolling Shelves - When I say these changed the game, these CHANGED THE GAME. I use a system of these to store supplies, vessels, and finished arrangements awaiting packing. My favorite hack though is to rig these into the box truck to bring on install day. They not only save space in the truck when packed tight with arrangements, but they’re awesome to roll around on site :)

Floral Studio Upgrades

Thoughtful upgrades that elevate life in the flower studio

Fancy Hand Soap - After a long day in the studio, nice hand soap really makes all the difference.

The Jams - Can’t get through a long day without some tunes. (Side note, if you’ve been thinking of this system for your home, I highly recommend. You can play different music in different rooms at different volumes.)

Cute Collapsible & Stackable Crates - I can’t get enough of these. Fun washi tape labels or a good ole labelmaker make organizing with these that much more fun.

All the Beverages - An espresso machine, french press, electric kettle, and mini fridge ensures the team is well hydrated — or caffeinated — depending on their preference.
